AIAS Bologna is an independent Association of persons with disabilities and their carers. In its more than 60 years of existence AIAS has always put the quality of life of persons with disabilities and the quality of the services that are provided to them at the core of its operations.

Innovation and participation is one of the main focus of AIAS Bologna and the Project for Innovation sector is thus aimed at advancing the reserach in the fields of social inclusion and technological innovation for people with disabilities and elderly.

The objective of the research team involved is thus to transfer available basic scientific knowledge into usable services and technological products supporting the life of people with any kind of disability and this is further obtained by international projects which have allowed us to work in areas such as education (EDUROB on educational robotics, LLP), technological innovation (ProACT on sensor technology for independent living of older adults, Horizon2020), assistive technology (TOBI project on Brian computer interaction, FP7), violence prevention against children with disabilities (Daphne projects), gender issues (RiseWIse), flexible housing solutions, training programs both for persons with disabilities (ATLEC project, LLL), for carers (European Care Certificate, LLP), for professionals (KPT-Project: Guidelines for lifelong learning in Assistive Technology, LLL) and for the enhancement of international networks on AT and service provision: The European network of technology enhanced learning in an inclusive society (ENTELIS, Co-founder and Active member); The European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD, Board member); The Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE, Active Member); The International Society for Alternative and Augmentative Communication (ISAAC, Active Member); The Italian network of Assistive Technology centers (GLIC, Co-Founder and active member).
