On 3rd of December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Entelis+ partners launched an awareness raising campaign called #righttoconnectnow, which will build on local communities in Europe that believe technology is an opportunity and not a barrier to inclusion. According to the UN CRPD, persons with disabilities should enjoy the same rights as anyone else: the right to learn, to work, to have social relations, to enjoy life, to practise sports, to love, to hope and to fully participate in society. To do so in today’s world, having access to modern technologies and being digitally skilled is imperative.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made it very clear: when it comes to digital participation persons with disabilities do not have the same opportunities as those without disabilities. There are many reasons for that: it might be considered dangerous, there might be a lack of access to assistive technologies or no awareness neither training for caregivers, finally the websites might be not accessible. It is time for a change: digital participation is a right! The digital divide must be bridged!

The Entelis+ project partners invite you to join us and to:

  • Raise awareness not only on the precious contribution that persons with disabilities bring to society, but also on how we can facilitate them in doing so using the technology;
  • Build communities of practice that work and learn together about technology as tool for inclusion;
  • Empower individuals and organisations to have persons with disabilities acquire the right ICT skills that would enable them to participate in society more easily;
  • Have fun together!

Get involved, share our visual on your social media accounts with the tag #righttoconnectnow and help us build a shared culture.
